Weekend Fashion Supplement: Eleganza!

A few days ago I included this image from the house of Eleganza

What’s that? You want to see some more?

Today’s images all come from the site I’m Learning To Share! Taken from issues of Ebony magazine dating from 1970 to 1976, they show more fabulous outfits from Eleganza, The House Of Essex, Frederick’s Of Hollywood and Bill The Hatter.

The clothes are amazing, although I suspect the only man who could actually wear them would be a private dick that’s a sex machine to all the chicks. Can you dig it?

As a bonus for our Lady Readers the last image also includes an outfit for you – it’s suitable for a night at the disco or a hard day smashing the glass ceiling… of a disco. Anything disco-related, really.

There’s more images to see at I’m Learning To Share!, as well as many other time-eating distractions. And Bill The Hatter still exists! (Although sadly it no longer sells that coat…)

You know it’s the Seventies when acrylic is described as luxurious… 94% acetate and 6% nylon – that’s quality you can really feel…

  3. Dan Cardone says:

And, I’m sorry, but that guy in the popcorn knit pants really kick starts my motor…hot damn!

  4. Dan Cardone says:

I think Frederick’s of Hollywood still exists, only now they only make clothes for hookers. Which really isn’t such a mental leap…

  5. Sam says:

Bill the Hatter’s trenchcoat – if only the Matrix was set in the 70s.

  6. Tim says:

Didn’t Diana Rigg wear that knit jump suit in The Avengers? If she didn’t, she should have.

  7. What the hell is a two piece jumpsuit? Isn’t the whole point of a jumpsuit… Oh, never mind. Just feel the luxurioussssnessssss…

  8. outlandinstitute says:

Salty: It’s taking the idea of the jumpsuit and tearing it apart! Take that, cultural jumpsuit hegemony!

Tim: I too, think I have seen most of these outfits either on Emma Peel or Prince. Or I should have.

Sam: You don’t know how much I wish they’d made The Matrix in the 70s, with Richard Roundtree, Pam Grier and that coat. Mmmmm, wah-wah.

    Steph: Sorry.

  9. Anne-Marie says:

I love that the popcorn knit comes with a money back guarantee. Although – who couldn’t pick up wearing that.

  10. Adam C says:

my god I can just hear the epic 70s funk music that accompanies all these clothes in my head right now.

    Amazing
