I haven't seen that one, and so it has to go on my list - for after I've finished writing the current book. I don't actually read/watch much vampire fic while I'm working on the books so I don't have any accidental cross polination...

Have you seen 'Near Dark'? It's one of my favourite vampire films (although the ending is crap and Adrian Pasdar is a wimp) because the vampires aren't rich, they're white trash and the female is Jenette Goldstein, Velasquez, from 'Aliens'. Not pretty, not skinny and looks like she's now having a permanently bad hair day. Good fun AND directed by a woman, Kathryn Bigelow of 'Blue Steel' fame.

I'm so going to read it. As Sam said - so many of my favourite things wrapped up in wordy goodness.

I must also point out that I think I was the only girl I knew in high school who didn't submit to Sweet Valley High. Ok, I think I read one about the twins. I'm sure it was about the problems of being blonde and whether or not to let a boy touch your tits - through your jumper, of course.

Glad you're enjoying it. If all goes well this time, you'll eventually have even *more* crime, vamps and Melbourne to help you pass the time.

Never mind that. I think I want to read about sweet teenaged girls doing FaceOff but with bitchfights, giggling, worrying about boys and The Prom.

Let's learn some stuff about Sweet Valley High quickly, shall we? According to Wikipedia (so it must be true!) there were 152 books in the series (not counting all the spin-offs), and other unexpected plots included:

The twins battling a werewolf in London;
The twins and friends being chased by escaped criminals in Death Valley;
A former classmate attempting to steal Alice's face via a face transplant; and
Elizabeth and a Parisian prince falling in love.

A Parisian prince? Did they go back in time as well?

Merchandising included puzzles, a board game, audio books, video and DVDs of the TV Series, a CD soundtrack, dolls and doll clothing, a trivia book and a neon sign. Also a "Slam Book", whatever that is.

Sorry Narrelle, I seem to have hijacked the comments away from your novel. Which is grouse.
